Best Valentine's Day Recipes for a Romantic Dinner

Posted by Te'a DiNapoli on

Valentine’s Day is one of the most romantic times of the year. For many, the appeal is in spending time alone with loved ones. So this year, rather than visiting a restaurant, why not book a table for two in the comfort of your own space? Here’s our guide on how to celebrate Valentine’s Day at home, including Valentine's Day table decorations advice, and simple Valentine’s recipes that will win the heart of any fair suitor.

Honey Garlic Salmon with Horseradish-Sour Cream Mashed Potatoes

Valentine’s recipes don’t need to be heavy to get the blood pumping. This delicious, sweet, spicy, and garlicky salmon dish is easy to make, taking just five minutes of prep time and 15 minutes to cook, leaving you plenty of time to spend with your beloved.

Grilled Ratatouille Linguine

The ratatouille linguine is a god among vegan pasta dishes, combining vibrant red, yellow, and green colors for an exciting plate of food that looks as good as it tastes. Keeping the Valentine’s Day table decorations simple with elegant white and silver dinnerware will allow the colors to take center stage, whereas a dash of vegan parmesan (or traditional parmesan for non-vegans) will add a creamy consistency to this romantic dish.

Garlic Butter Steak with Warm Spinach Salad

They say that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, but we’d like to think that this dish is gender-neutral. Who doesn’t love a perfectly cooked, buttery steak? While this recipe isn’t the lightest dish on our list, when it comes to traditional home-cooked romantic meals for two, it’s top of the charts. Just whizz the garlic butter ingredients in a food processor to prep, then make the rest of the dish when your date arrives for a wonderful, hearty evening meal.

Champagne and Raspberry Possets

Our champagne and raspberry possets recipe is a prep-in-advance dessert, giving you plenty of time to get ready for your date's arrival without working up a sweat in the kitchen. The simple dessert needs a cool two hours in the refrigerator (or overnight if you prefer) to set, but looks like you’ve spent hours slaving away over it.

We love its pretty pink shade, which would look sumptuous against a shimmering centerpiece bowl. Sprinkle frozen raspberry pieces on top of the dessert and onto the silver platter for maximum effect that’s sure to impress your date.

Valentine’s Recipes Don’t Have to Be Tricky

Navigating the dating scene may feel like a minefield, but at least your kitchen can be battle-free. Choose simple meals that can be prepared quickly so you can remain attentive to your guest, or prep early to take the stress out of dining at home for Valentine's Day. Be sure to add beautiful Valentine’s Day table decorations to elevate your home for the occasion, and fingers crossed that your guest of honor will be swooning before the evening is over.
